Some queries related to player in comp without handicap.

A guy I know who is in the process of joining a club has been told that he can play in competitions but he can't win as a result of his not having a handicap yet. All of the details in getting him up & running are in progress, his 3 cards have been submitted but his official GUI handicap hasn't been issued.

So, he was told he can play in comps but not compete. I'm a member of the same club and we're hoping to play an open comp at our club over the weekend. He's not in the system yet.
    1. Do I sign him in as a guest, on the day, or does he sign in at all?
    2. If no one joins us on the timesheet, can he mark and sign my card?
    3. Does he enter his score into the computer somehow even if he's not in the system or just discard his scorecard at the end?
    4. Or does he just pop in his card and leave handicap as blank?
    5. What does he put on the card, it's not 'For Handicap' as he has already submitted his 3 for handicap.

    Thanks in advance.

did he not ring the handicap secretary to see what the story is
.i had the same problem this year,i was due to play an open team event but no sign of my handicap been issued even though i had 3 cards in.i rang the handicap secretary to see what the story is and told him that i was due to play the team event and he rang me back a few hours after telling me my new handicap.

He did yeah, he asked a few times but no word on it yet. It's not long ago he threw them in anyway - but even if he was told what it was he still wouldn't be able to sign in etc. as it's not up & running yet and he's not in the system, if you get what I mean. He's not bothered about competing he just wants to play & I want to know what he needs to do to be legit on the day.

i would expect he plays the comp without paying into it as he's not entered as a competitor
he's effectively playinga round with a member to mark his card for handicapping,no points being scored just counting his shots

if it was me i'd fill in the card get it signed and wait 'till i had all 3 and the give them to the handicap secretary together

    sorry didn't read this correctly
no handicap means he's basically out for a hack around,

Yeah that would make sense to me. I assume that's ok then - or as I was mentioning about if no-one could fill out the remainder of the line with us, would that not disqualify me then from the comp, might I be seen as playing on my own as he's not in the comp?

Yeah more or less. He just wants a game.
