Yamaha HS50M's - Questions about Freq Range & Sub Bass etc..

    How are things Chaps?

I know a number of Folks have these little Black & White Fellas and I was just wondering how you get on with them.

I know the general concensus is really positive.. so thats all good.

Obviously its mainly dependant on your room, but what I'm concerned about is the bottom end in general - it goes from 55 to 20 - Am I missing out on vital info - or is it sufficient to roll off from 30 and leave it at that?

Do I need a Sub - Is it important whats going on from 55 down? Can I just cut & forget or is there a "golden rule" that will make everything ok? Haha! :pac:

They're the 1st pair of proper monitors I've had. I'm really happy with them, but as you can see, I'm curious about the freq's that they are lacking. A pair of HS80's is probably the same price as a HS10W sub.

At the moment I can hear "a" difference when I cut from 30 - but I'm still wondering what I might gain from getting a sub?

Any advice or horror stories or pratical warnings would be greatly appreciated! In reality the question that I'm asking is as much about Sub Freq's than anything else.

Just as a footnote - I'd like to know if anyone makes any major compensations when mixing / using them because of the Freq range? I might be wrong in my assumptions, but I try & keep my music in the Key of A so that is in range of the speakers :)
