Question re changing college course

I've decided to change course next year which involves moving to a different college. I'm aware of the fees etc that I'll have to pay next year but I'm worried now that I mightn't get accepted for the course I want to do in DCU as a result of my college exam results this year.

The DCU website says that applicants are assessed on both LC results and previous third level results. I got a fairly decent LC but I'm worried now that if I fail a number of modules this year it might affect my chances of getting the new course.

Anyone have any experience with a situation similar to this? Or does anyone know of anyone who's been refused a college place due to poor previous college results, despite having the number of points needed?

Any help or info would be appreciated!

I did this, internally, in Trinity.

In Trinity, if you switch to the first year of a different course, you are assessed purely on your Leaving Certificate results and nothing else.

Actually, you could just apply for the course through CAO if you have the points. They're accepting late applications till the 1st of May. Then you'll just be assessed like any Leaving Cert. student, based on your previous results. If you want to be sure, give DCU a ring and ask them. The DCU Students' Union Education Officer is John Murphy, and his number is 01 700 5546.

The difference between "transferring course" and "dropping out and reapplying" is pretty much semantics.

This is what I've done but I still think that third level results are considered as well. I have to send all third level exam results into CAO.

I'm a little confused really. When I emailed CAO they said that it's only LC points that count, but DCU claim that I'll be assessed on both LC and third level results. Don't know who to believe.

    Thanks for the info
