    Hi folks,
am heading up for the Rugby match tonight in Galway. What's the best way up at that time of day on a bank holiday? Is it worth the hassle to go via Tipp town to avoid Charleville's 4pm traffic? Would M8 to Thurles and going via Portuma work?

    tks

Going through Thurles is probably the least risky to avoid heavy traffic. That said, after Thurles all the way to Nenagh and even on to Galway, you can get held up by slow moving tractors, and local traffic.

There is a way around Charleville by turning right for the train station just as you come in to the town. Check it out on googlemaps.

turned out Charleville wasn't bad, Limerick was a joke, over 1:20 from M20 to n18 dual carriageway.

Can't want for the tunnel for open!!
