Yep, tanks aswell as part of a fictitious army commanded by Patton and designed to trick ze Germans into thinking the invasion would be directed toward Calais.

Serbia built a load of fake wooden models in 1999 when NATO went to bomb the army for war crimes. They destroyed most of the fake wooden targets believing they were the real deal. Even fake fighter jets on run ways while the real things were hidden under camo nets in forests to recover after the war.

Suppose they are good for target practice and to help soldiers and pilots ID targets through NVGs and other optical sensors.

They'd make great bouncy castles. Imagine it, braai on the go, few mates around, copius amounts of beer(its the law) and one of these set up in the garden, happy days.:D

Apparently the Germans twigged to this and dropped Fake wooden Bombs on the fake wooden models :D:D:D

In ww2 the Brits in Africa had whole battalions made from cardboard and just a few guys kicking up dust to fool the spotter plans and it worked!
