    Ok.
That person should be banned for being a prick of a reaction.

But why do people on the internet always assume questions are only for ''homework''

I am sick of asking questions and being told do your own ''homework''.

You the second mod also dont have to be a condescending diddums.

Because "give an example of" is nearly always a homework or exam question.

It's fairly obvious that's a homework question. Why? Because there's no practical benefit to the answer. If you're coming on looking for the solution to a problem that will be clear. If you're coming on to find out about how I/O queues work...well...that's homework.

No that is asking how they work.

How is there no practical benefit to the answer? Maybe not to you because you either know the answer or don't care the poster and me and others I'm sure don't know and would like to know.

whoops my bad - he did ask for an example. But examples would give a practical use and make it clearer how and why etc they work.

Well....If someone was really interested in I/O queues (for the sake of understanding them) then I think they'd actually go about finding things out with google instead of asking a quesiton on a forum.

I mean maybe it's a genuine question alright, but probably not. That's my gut feeling on it. It's just not the kind of topic that sparks the imagination into asking about it on an internet forum.

How on earth did you become a mod on this forum?

You clearly do not grasp the concept of forums....

yes - the question posted is not gonna be one you could ask most friends unless you have some seriously geeky friends.

That is the whole point of forums - shocking you dont grasp that.

The idea of the forum is not to do homework/college projects for people.

If there was a specific question I'm sure people would oblige but it's obvious homework and it seems the person has not taken the first step, you know, doing a bit of research.

He is sitting in front of the biggest library in the world...it's not that difficult.

If you have to know it was preparation for an open book exam not "homework", as being regarded as a prick the reply was no where near being useful so his own fault, if ye do need to know a high percentage of questions ye get are for college projects i no plenty of people only using boards for that reason, the "biggest library in the world" type OS-9 queues into a google and see how useful the worlds biggest library is?

    We obviously use google diffrently.

My mother would type "os-9 queues" into google because she wouldn't know any different.

    Here's some steps.

Actually, I'll help you with the first step incase it's too much for you ;)

    http://www.googleguide.com/category/overview/

Learn about the advanced features of google, you're going to need these ALOT.

Once you you're up and running you should find what you're looking for pretty quickly

    and

    You're welcome! :p

I'm assuming he's talking about OS-9 realtime "Unix-Like" OS not "MAC OS 9"

It's not the kind of thing you "discuss". It's a straightforward request for information (and not even a question). The kind of information that you should be going off to research for yourself, in books or in college or, heaven forbid, with a search engine. If you have a look through the history of this forum you'll see that there are almost no requests like that on here so don't go telling me that I don't "grasp" forums. I think you'll find I have a pretty good grasp of how forums work and what they're for. Maybe....just maybe....even slightly better than you.

use of the word explanation and a question mark and then asking for an example.

**** wait your right thats no question......

Anyway it turned out you were kinda right in a way - still didnt have to be condescending, twice.
