    Hi
I am just wondering, How much would labour cost to lay bricks for a wall outside the back of a house between gardens. Think it will take about 500 bricks. Just a rough guestimate would be great
    Cheers

    Hi Ellie2,

Depends where in the country you are. We are paying 60 cent a block to the blocklayers in Clare for boundary wall. Its costing us 460euro for 880 blocks. Sand and cement are extra

Hi, 500 bricks, boundary wall and straight run will cost you 50-55 cent a brick. Is the wall being built between you and a neighbour? have you decided on a bond style, your bricklayer should have the experience to advise you. Be prepared as there are alot of "chancers" who have no pride in face brickwork. A common bond for a garden wall built with brick is called "english bond" this is a 9" thick wall that has finished face both sides and typically built with 1st course both front and back laid lenght ways and then the second course laid long ways and so on, commonly called stretcher header. An independant wall built in 9" is far more durable and pleasing to the eye. Single skined walls are only built if tied back to an internal structure: a layer of blockwork, timber or metal studwork etc.
