Science quotes on a sticky ?

    hey all ,

Was reading through some pop-science books today and one of the things i enjoyed most , as i nearly always do when i read them is the quotes from scientists, both serious and funny. Quotes such as :

listen: there's a hell of a good universe next door; let's go
    -E. E. CUMMINGS

when he was talking about parallel universes. There are lots of them which are usually amusing but some are serious and do make you think.

What i was thinking is this :

a sticky gets made where people can post some of the quotes they have seen ( both funny and serious ) , and can discuss them also.

just an idea, i know there usually isn't much attention payed to this forum relative to others but i still think it could work.

I have PM'dProfessor Fink about it and it gets the go ahead if enough people want it.
So if you think it would work please reply in some way either by a post or a thank you.

    many thanks

    Excellent idea.

    Two my favourites:
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.
    --Darwin
There's two possible outcomes: if the result confirms the hypothesis, then you've made a discovery. If the result is contrary to the hypothesis, then you've made a discovery.

not quotes, but some jokes. maybe jokes could be included in the sticky?
Q: Why are quantum physicists so poor at sex?
A: Because when they find the position, they can't find the momentum, and when they have the momentum, they can't find the position
Wanted Dead or Alive: Schrodinger's Cat

don't see why not, just an idea to inject a bit of fun and discussion as opposed to Q&A which occurs a lot.

Can't remember who said it but it's something like
Everytime I hear about Schrodinger's cat I reach for my gun

shamelessly stolen from someone's sig :D
Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction

If at first an idea does not sound absurd,
then there is no hope for it.
    -ALBERT EINSTEIN

    always liked that one.

Anybody else find it funny that Einstein didn't like quantum physics yet he won a nobel prize for his work on it ( light as a particle) ?

"Physics is the only real science. The rest are just stamp collecting."
