RTE, why can't you schedule Flashforward correctly ?

So I'm catching up on my Sky+'d Flashforward episodes and 3 ****ing weeks in a row the idiots have made a mess of scheduling, 3 weeks ago the stupid soccer before hand overran by about 15 minutes, the week after around 10 and then last week 5, you gotta have it to them, they're getting better.

So as a result I'm missing the end of the last 3 episodes. What's the odds they'll get it correct tomorrow ?

If every other station can reschedule on the fly when programs over run, why can't they

They must be under instruction from ABC to make sure as few people see it as possible. That's the only explanation I can come up with as to why ABC themselves screw around with their scheduling the way they do.

Ye I know it drives me mad too...However they do have the last few episodes on the RTE player here so if you ever miss it you can catch up on the website. Not ideal if you don't have a good broadband connection though!

Yeah, I resorted to the player to catch the final few minutes of each episode alright, the one from last week was only missing about 5 seconds, still bloody frustrating.

That's why I prefer to use a pirate service much better than RTE.

It's no different than using the RTE player, in fact the player is probably easier to find recent shows than trying to find a decent quality torrent.

I rarely watch RTE any more. Do they really cut off the end of programs?

That's not the problem, the problem is that the soccer before hand has over run each time but the Sky+ schedule wasn't adjusted to reflect this meaning that your Sky box expects it to start and finish at the schedule time meaning you get up to 15 minutes analysis of some soccer game at the start of your recording and Flashforward finishes 10/15 minutes before the actual end credits.

Just thought I'd mention in case it helps anyone.
They do a repeat on Saturday night/ Sunday morning around 2am or so.

After missing 20 mins of an episode 3 weeks ago, I changed my sky + schedule to record the repeat.

They seem to be able to get that one right at least...

The thing about sky is, they can update the EPG to cater for programme overruns like this but but sky + must run off a different schedule system as it never picks the changes up.

Nah, it's not that, I'm guessing it's simply RTE not updating Sky or whatever is they have to do when a program of theirs over runs so there's no way the Sky box is aware of it, if the likes of BBC can do it I don't see what the problem here is.

Yeah, but we're talking about RTE here....incompetent twits.

Yea, the only real solution I found to this is adding 10 mins to the end of the recording manually in sky+ setup. Sure you might not need the 10 extra mins most of the time, but it can be a saviour occasionally!

The bbc can't automatically update sky either, no broadacaster can afaik except Sky themselves, or without paying massive insurance for direct access to their epg system which no-one is willing to do. Sky do accept major changes late by phone, but this is also troublesome, as BBC found out last year when there was the big furore about everyone missing the first 15 minutes of top gear on sky+. They'd informed sky it would start 30 mins late, then it only started 15 minutes late.
