Can you recommend a good cobbler in Dublin?

Not the yummy peach pie but a fine craftsperson who can resurrect my boots!

Cowboy boots, after four years of exemplary service have gone and split along the sole at the ball of the foot. I'd like to get them re-soled as this is the only thing wrong with them and I get more attached to them as the years go by.

Would anyone know of any good cobblers who might do this kind of job. I'm based in Dublin and anywhere around the city centre would be great but I'm willing to travel for really good work!

Marlow at the bottom of Georges street is good. It's beside the Philips shop.
I was gonna get a pair of pennys boots re heeled today and he quoted me €14...A re sole probably be like 20 but would be a good investment for your veteran boots! :)

    Yes!

My cobbler in the Swan Centre in Rathmines is brilliant, although he will give out about the state of the boots, why are you bothering to repair them etc :D

    He's about €9 for a re-sole.

Or else there's a place right beside the Barge pub on Harcourt street that's meant to be amazing. Never been as Rathmines guy is great.

The guy on North Earl Street is good, Bryans. Ask him in advance how much though as some of the places above seem very competitive.

+1 for Bryans, my local cobbler directed me to them a few years ago and they have brought a lot of my shoes back from beyond, i wouldnt go anywhere else now. Here's there website www.dublinshoerepairs.ie

Haha. He's lambasted me on many a pair too! I'm not really sure why he does it.

I was chatting to the guy in the Swan centre about the prices charged in the place by the Barge (as they seemed exorbitant to me). He was suddenly interested and told me that he was trained by the guy who runs the Barge outlet, but tapered off on his own because he felt the prices charged wouldn't attract many customers.

I'd say he'd have an easier job if we all went in when the damage started instead of when the shoe is wrecked like - cause he makes sure the end result is the same regardless i.e. close to perfect, even a couple of wears earlier could make a difference I suppose :) I feel bad sometimes about the state of things I've dropped in there!
