Slightly ironic that the Irish Times, a sponsor of the race, is recommending music for the Great Limerick Run when the actual organisers ask entrants not to use headphones for safety reasons.

    From the IT:

"The Great Limerick Run is on this weekend – and many runners will pack water, shoes and some great tunes."

From GL: "We recommend all personal music devices not be used for safety reasons. Our race vehicles and ambulances must use the course, and must be able to alert participants of their presence. Your co-operation here is appreciated."

My current favorites on my running playlist are:

    Mike Mills - Air
    Star Guitar - Chemical Brothers
    Chocolate - Snow Patrol
    Beatles - Get Back
    Run- Air
    1812 Overture- Tchaikovsky
    Sabotage- Beastie Boys

I'd love to hear other peoples suggestion. Great to find fresh tracks to run to.

She's so hot she can do whatever she wants...no one is going to argue with her.

Ipod shuffle does the trick. The Boss, Leonard Cohen and Radiohead are the favs at the moment.

As for the Irish Times today, i think the article was aimed at people who have taken up running for the summer. They had another article on Monday i think about some journalist getting out and about running.

However i think anyone running a race with headphones on is a bad idea. You can't hear race instructions, whats behind you (saw a guy get bawled out of it last year in Connemara as an ambulance tried to get through at one point. He was in a world of his own) or more importantly you ignore fellow competitors and the crowd. A few words of encouragement can do better than any song in my view.

I've listened almost all of what's in your playlist but have not listened 1812 Overture- Tchaikovsky. It's something new to me.

husker du made some fine fine tunes alright. Candy Apple Grey & Warehouse songs and stories if memory serves were 2 of the albums. Remember albums?

BTW, I spoke to a guy today who marshalled the recent Wicklow 10k / half marathon. He was yelling instructions to runners on the day at a particular turning point for the 10k but not the half marathon, but they couldn't hear him cos they'd headphones. They then proceeded to give out later that they were sent the wrong way.

Love Daft Punk as well, although can end up going too fast with some of their stuff, just kind of get lost in it :pac:

Actually for running, I go for the later Bob Mould stuff, when he was slightly cheerier.
Copper Blue is a great album of his that is good when running.
