I think the software on the computers should be specific to which floor they are on, for example ground floor should have software targeted towards business students, eg Office, Visio etc,

I think the ground floor is the only ones that dont have alot of what you mentioned above, I know the games lab only have visual studio and another one or two,

I'm a computing student, I never use the computers I always use my Mac, what I think should be in place is an extra power cable for laptops, I'm sick of bending down to plug out a plug to use for my laptop

As far as I am aware, the initial plan for the IT building was designated for Computing students only, but as Business aimed courses became increasingly popular in the college they required more access to computers. I practically live in that building as I have a lot of practical classes. I hate seeing 4 or 5 people huddled around the one PC doing a marketing power point / using facebook when I'm trying to do my own work.

There is... it's called a timetable.

I think there should be smaller classrooms in there. My own course only has about six people on it, and when we are in the IT building we are taking up a whole classroom with about forty computers in it (though about a quarter of those will not be working at any given time).

There should be more rooms reserved for general access also. People shouldn't have to walk around the whole building looking for a free classroom, and students shouldn't have their classes continually disrupted by people interrupting and asking if there's a class on. Are there actually any rooms in there available for general use?

The computers need an overhaul too. Most of them are about seven years old and filled up with unnecessary crap that makes them run slow. I'm sick of the way that every time I log on I have to wait about five minutes while Windows sets up "personalised settings" that will be deleted as soon as I log off/shut down. Surely there is a better way of doing it?

Generally where D04 comes in. My understanding that it was for IT Students only anyway. Plus, the soon to re-open D01.

D01 is now a lecture hall, From the last course board I was at the IT rooms were to be removed from the D corridor. Also from that meeting each from what I understand each course which have specific rooms that only students from that course can access, so gone will be the days where you'll have business students using say the mac lab when you need it

I think even if there was some sort of busy/vacant notice outside the classroom, it wouldn't be used properly and you'd still get people coming in and asking if there is a class on.

WIT need to make enough computers available for general use. It's ridiculous that students have to walk around the whole building to look for a free classroom or for a lecturer that will allow them to use one of the free computers.

Why can't there be 2 or 3 rooms like any of the IT rooms where they aren't intended for class, but for general use. The only downfall of that is, you will have students going in there just to use facebook or have a laugh

Advantage of D04 was the open access on the PC. For those doing IT labs, it was the room we needed the most and rarely used by anybody else.
