I need a touch up brush for a few scuffs marks and scratches.
How do I find out what colour my car is?

Its obviously blue but I dont want it to be noticable when I do a touch up.

Is there a code or serial number I look for on the car?

What is the make and model and year? There is a chance its part of the VIN failing that its stamped on the chassis seperately somewhere.

Go to your nearest main dealer, I picked up a genuine paint touch up kit for my car there for about €12.

Is it not normally marked on the plate either in the glove box or on the passanger door frame that gives tyre pressures?

There should be a code in the manual somewhere. Take this code to any autoshop and they should have it.

Actually Halfords own touch up kits are probably better than an OEM supplied one. The Halfords ones have two means for application:
    - A really narrow brush, ideal for small scratches
    - a pinhole sized "dropper" (for the want of a better word) that is ideal for stone chip type damage.

on the same topic i have been trying to find on my 2001 VW passat the colour code but have had no luck.
Online i have narrowed this down to two different blacks. LC9Z and L041. Anyone have any ideas which one it would be or where i would find it.

Also does anyone recommend an online place where i can get a touch up kit which includes everything i need?

Have a look on the inside of the bootlid/on the boot floor, there should be a sticker with model/colour/option codes. The same sticker should also be inside the service book.

    Nope, nothing like that anywhere.
I went through all the places in Toms list but nothing there.
There are a few marks in places which look like a sticky residue of where a sticker was removed.
