I've been using this ROM on the Hero since yesterday, and its really nice. Very quick (quicker than Villain 5.3, IMO) and has a very slick look (all of the icons look like buttons and its quite distinctive)

The devs (including Villain's Nathan Russell) seem to have fallen for this one in a big way, and plan alot for it over the weekend.

Worth a look if you're a tinkerer! I'll be sticking with this one for a while.

I just switched to BeHero+ as of last night so far so good. Nice and fast ROM just keeping an eye on the Battery life today.

what do you use to backup stuff from the phone?

I used Titanium backup but it didn't restore my apps, had MyBackup but its paid. I don't mind paying but if there is anything free...

I'm on VillainROM 5.3, its fine but much slower comparing to my previous rom (Mr.Bang). I'm planning to check out Kimera because of the overclocked kernel.

I tend to use Astro file manager to backup all my installed Apps to the SD card, and then once the phone is wiped and up and running again, I only need to download Astro, then from there re-install the backed up apps.

Most of them keep their information on the SD card, so you generally don't lose much/anything.

Installing a SMS backup program is usually a good idea too! (I've lost SMS messages a few times before thinking of this... *facepalm*)

and I did it, I mean I flashed Kimera. Man it is fast, my Hero was never so fast. I think I will keep this rom for some time, probably until the official 2.1 (or 2.2) is released.

Just installed Slidevillian this morning and so far well impressed. Basically the stock ROM with loads of extras and they were not lying when they said it was fast! No glitches found so far. :)
