Issue with Hot Water tap in kitchen

We are having an issue with the hot water tap in our kitchen. We have solar panels installed so we have regular hot water but when ever we run the hot water tap in the kitchen it takes a good 2-3 minutes to get hot water. The hot water only lasts for about a minute then it goes back to being cold even though there is plenty of hot water in the tank. All the other hot water taps are working fine.

I've noticed that if you run the hot water tap in the bathroom first and then run the tap in the kitchen you get the hot water straight away and it stays hot.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Never heard of it. When the water goes cold have you left it running a while to see if it goes back to hot....

It just stays cold then and doesn't go back to hot.
It will only go back to hot if we run the tap in the bathroom first.

Never heard of it. The only thing i can think of is there is a airlock of some sort and the water is bypassing the cylinder and coming straight from the tank to the tap.

Its something I would need to see.

It sure dose sound if its short circuiting al right. Very hard to diagnose over the web

There could be some debris stuck in the anti-scald valve.

Or if the solar panel has an external heat exchanger like the Willis Solasyphon, sometimes the cold water can take a short cut through the external heat exchanger bypassing the cylinder.

This can expecially problematic if the water system is pressurised.
