Some Information on where the funds raised will go :
Action Breast Cancer (ABC), a programme of the Irish Cancer Society, is the leading provider of breast cancer information and support in Ireland. Each year ABC reaches over 30,000 women who are concerned about breast cancer or breast health. We rely entirely on voluntary contributions from the public to fund our programmes of care, education and research.
ABC'S services are free, confidential and accessible and include:
    * National Cancer Freefone Helpline - staffed by specialist cancer nurses
    * Information - booklets, fact sheets and website.
    * Health Promotion - providing community and workplace programmes on breast cancer awareness and early detection
    * Reach to Recovery programme - one-to-one emotional support provided by former breast cancer patients.
    * Research - funding vital Irish breast cancer research that will have a significant impact on diagnosis and treatment.
    * Advocacy - providing a voice for women with breast cancer in Ireland.

    Clinical Trials Unit in CUH
'The unit provides access to research studies designed to test new treatments in cancer care. A clinical trial is set up at the end of a long and careful clinical research process in order to test a newly developed drug or procedure which shows promise. Patients who participate in clinical trials may be the first to benefit from the latest cancer treatments. Their care is closely monitored during and after the trial. Clinical trials also offers patients an opportunity to make a contribution to cancer research'

Really enjoyed this event. It was very straight forward, easy set up, bar the actual course! Great to just be able turn up on the day, register an hour before. Less frills meant hopefully more money going to the excellent cause, Breast Cancer.

The weather was glorious, the hills were tough, the clientelle were up for it and the support was fantastic. Water was in cups but they were tall ones so it was easy enough to pinch them and take a drink.

Great day out, sure what more could you want?!
