My other sister and I are bridesmaids for our older sisters. The bride is so organised she has everything sorted already and the wedding isn't until July so the only time we really get to help out and really show our appreciation to the bride is on the Hen night and the Wedding day.

So what I want to know is has anyone one got good ideas for some games for the hen weekend?... It's a sex and the city themed hen weekend... as it coincides with release of sex and the city 2 which we are gonna go see on the Saturday!... anyone got any clever idea's for the weekend? or advice on what not to do maybe? what have you seen that has been a hit or a miss?

We are thinking of getting the Bride a sash with "Bride in the city" on it but still lost to what to put on ours... "chicks in the city" maybe?? I really just want to make sure she has a fun weekend and show how happy we are to be bridesmaids.

if you are going to be staying in someones house why not have a cocktail making lesson before you all go out?
you could theme it so that you have to dress as a character from the show?

if you're planning on going somewhere for the hotel check out the G hotel in Galway, they're advertising sex and the city theme packages in the hotel, there's different variations for different prices but all include the film, could be good

Here's a few suggestion for what NOT to do.......
    - Dont get those stupid t-shirts printed, so you all look the same, and the unfortunate ones who a bit overweight feel they have to pour themselves into it for the weekend.
    - Dont put those learner stickers, and jonnies all over the bride to be, looks so tacky, its not funny.
    - Dont invite people who you dont like, just for the sake of keeping everyone happy, coz when the drink flows, all the truth and bitching comes out, and it will ruin it for everyone.
    - Keep the fúcking noise down when you're staying in a hotel. The other people dont care one bit about you and are just there to try and relax, and dont want a big loud annoying procession of middle aged wimmin shouting and screaming in their ear.

Other than that, have a good time.

I was bridesmaid last year and here were a few of the things I did:

    1. We did a scrap book with a pic of each person attending the hen, so theat they could all sing a wellwish underneath.

    2. Used the photos from the scrapbook and some funny ones of the bride and groom to do a mini slideshow which we showed in the bridesroom with glasses of champers before we left for the meal. she absolutley loved this

    3. We then wrapped about 20 presents (mini things like massive bloomers, toilet brushes, aprons, clothes pegs, shoe polish etc) we out a hint as how they will help her through the marraig on the front and she had to guess what they were before opening, and drink a sip of her champers every time she guessed wrong.

    4. After the meal we played the Mr. and Mrs quiz where we had asked the groom about 25 questions and she had to guess the answer ansd take a shot for everyone she got wrong. that was great craic!!

anyway best of luck and Enjoy yourselfs....try and not let it cost you a bomb, because it did cost me a bomb, and i got very little appreciation for it!

    Hey Curlybob
You have some great ideas! Sounded like really good fun, I am thinking about incorporating some of your ideas into a hen night im organising, the only thing i was wondering tho was that while you were playing the games- did the hen get too sloshed considering that she had to take a shot everytime she got something wrong?

You could always make the shots interesting - flat coke, flat lucozade, a yoghurt drink, that kind of thing, keep the bride guessing as to what she'll be getting and that way she doesn't get too drunk.

We made sure to get the least dangerous shots- micky finns, but she is also allowed to nominate friends to drink them if she is really getting it wrong. Usually if you get 10 shots that will cover the mr. and mrs quiz and depending on how drunk she is she can nominate them! Also do the quiz just after the meal so she will have good soakage. Hope ye have a great time.
