Mature Student Grant?

Hi everyone

My boyfriend is going back to college as a mature student in September (He will be 26) He was signing on from June 09 til Jan 10 and since then has been doing an ECDL Fas course. He will be finishing this in the next 3 weeks. So come September he won't be able to sign on as he is considered a student. Does anyone have any idea what the story is with the grant system for mature students? He is living with me (Im also signing on) Will he be elligible for it? Any idea on how much would it be a week?? Any info would be great!

Welfare.ie (I think) has a big section on grants and student funding too. Best of luck to him.

You'll note that since the 9 Dec 09 Budget which became effective Jan 2010
"people who are getting Back to Education Allowance will not be eligible for student support grants. However, this does not affect any entitlement they may have to exemption from college fees or student support charges. This applies to all new grant-holders from 2010 onwards."
