Planning on upgrading my 1000D but still can't make up my mind which to choose.

I am stuck between the 7D or 50D at the moment my main two things I am photographing is Rugby and Martial Arts, if you where in my position which would you go for??

    Thanks

Definitely the 7D, it's far superior in terms of features. Get it for the AF alone as the 50D will just piss you off in that department.

Had the same decision myself recently. Decided to go with the 7D in the end. It's pretty deadly.

If you're photographing sports, the super-fast 8fps ought to be useful!

Thanks guys, leaning towards the 7D but just not 100% sure yet! and don't want to spend that much and then regret it.

    7D by a country mile.

Now how long would a country mile be :):)

Bit longer than a city mile.

What level is your photography at?

I only ask because your basically going to spend double ie. €799 50D v's €1500 7D, will your photo results be twice as good? and still CF too (obv got video on the 7D but thats a different question)

Also you've a 1000D what lense have you got, will you need to upgrade? the 50D is a great camera with 6fps I'd use the extra cash for faster glass.

Forget about both and get yourself a second hand 1DMkIII. It's in a different league to the others.

Bit longer than a city mile.

Thats what I thought alright :):)

IamBlip - at the moment the Rugby is just a local rugby club but working on getting into a higher level. The martial arts is for the competitions for a few clubs I help out with and also have a few requests for portraits. So getting there slowly but surely.

Not sure if this is good value but Amazon has a special on the 7D+15-85 lens

I agree with Ballyman..... get yerself a decent secondhand 1D mk2..... 1D mk2N or 1D mk3 .... all should be between €1000-€1700....for sports the 1D series is much better than 7D or 50D (although I'm not a fan of the sensors on the 7D/1D mk3..... best machine around in my opinion (as canon's go) is the 1D mk2N)

I have been making a few phone calls and the cheapest second hand 1D Mark III is 1899.00, body only. A bit to far out of my reach, I can get the 7D new 1470.00 body only.
