    Hi Guys,

Myself and a mate will be moving up to Dublin from the sticks this June, one of us will be working in Clontarf and the other out in Sandyford. We're hoping to live somewhere around Rathmines/Ranelagh/Ballsbridge kind of area. Anyway my question is, does any bus route pass through Rathmines/Ranelagh area and go as far as Clontarf or would we have to get to Abbey street to get a bus to Clontarf/Connolly for the Dart?

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Depends on what part of Clontarf, if you're nearer the Fairview end of things the 128 from Rathmines shouldn't leave you too far off.

    Hi Jonny,

Thanks for your response, do you use this route by any chance? Just wondering how long a commute we're looking at?

Clontarf is fairly big, it sprawls along the coast to Raheny. Have a look on google maps. I am guessing you might be working in East Point? That's the Fairview end, as Johnnybad points out, Fairview is well serviced by buses. There is a Dart station by East Point too, so keep that in mind.

Jaysus, could you not have got jobs nearer each other? :)

Best of luck with the move.

I don't know it out as far as Rathmines, I generally get it from Town towards Clongriffen as a lot of my mates live near various parts of the Malahide Road. If you check the Dublin Bus website (http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/All-Timetables/128/) it gives the timings from Rathmines to Fairview as about 40 minutes at peak times, and if you're in Eastpoint probably about another 10-15 minute walk.

Probably not ideal but imo better than getting a bus to town, getting a Dart to basically where the bus drops you off anyways and then walking/getting the free bus
