    Lol.

I thought there was extra security on those places dating back to the Provo threat to communications installations in the State.

It wouldn't take much effort to switch the feed for the transmitter if you got your hands on the equipment! That would also be a blatantly criminal offense (not sure which law though) so let no one get any bright ideas!

There are two sky boxes in there not that i was in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you could easily change the channels!

The Sky boxes are only fallover gear, so it wouldn't actually change what was being radiated unless the main feed went down.

Achill's TX is on the list to be converted to digital but the order on the list went out the window - some relays which were meant to be done after it are already done and many before it aren't.

It'd have been on the mast itself. Microwave feed most likely, it could be a receive/broadcast relay either but I dunno if RTE use these.

No site is full-time fed solely off Sky Digital; also Achill broadcasts three channels not two under normal circumstances and has been around for a lot longer than Sky Digital has!

You're probably right acctually there was some sort of motorola box in there that looked expensive!

Do find it very lax of them to leave it open - the Arranmore site is like Fort Knox.

That said, the Arranmore site got vandalised to feck when being built, so that might be why!

I was surprised myself! the only thing is that the steel door is so rusty it's quite hard to open so its not obvious at first that its not locked!!
