P35 Declaration form

Oh how I hate accounting !!!

I have a P35 Declaration to fill in, again, something that my accountants probably used to do when I had work and money !!!

Does anybody know how to fill one of these in ?

The first "box" says : Enter total net tax and total income Levy deducted for all employees, minus all net tax refunded, if any.

The company never paid any tax, it just paid myself & my wife and I file an online tax return at end of year, so do I just put zero ?!?

The next "box" is asking for PRSI payments an "Car Parking Levy" ?!? WTF has PRSI got to do with car parking ?!? I am totally confused by this !!!

If anybody can shed any light on this I'd appreciate it, because it's giving me a headache !!!!!

When you did actually do work did your accountants file P30's ? A P35 is basically just a sum total of all the P30's for the year.

So if you get the P30's together you can use them to calculate the P35

Thank you, but I don't think this will help in this case, as it's for 2009 and I doubt they were doing anything for me, as I haven't been paying them :(

Oh actually, thinking about it, my tax year is 1st March to 28th February, and they filed the 2008-09 company return, which I paid for, so presumably they did P30s for January & February, so I should be able to get them, then I can probably work out March for myself ... hopefully anyway !!!

If you are just paying yourself and your wife, then you should probably pay yourself and your wife a salary.

Do you have a copy of your previous P35 and do you know what sort of a salary you should be giving yourself and your wife.

The basic story is that whatever salary you give yourself and your wife, you then need to calculate the tax, income levy and S Class PRSI payable on this salary.

This Income Tax, PRSI and Income Levy then needs to be put on the 2009 P35 and paid with it.

My advice to you, if you are not setup on ROS, is to ring 061-310310 tomorrow and quote your Reg number. Asking them to give you the details of the P30 returns for 2009. This will tell you how much has already been paid for 2009.
