looks like a good show to me think there going to use the big show to get swagger over more as a heel

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

seems to be a really good and somewhat packed smackdown with so many people getting the chance to promote themselves (cept Masters), like Kofi on his arrival over the leaving Jericho and the same for Cody and Morrison, plus they tease Christian vs Edge for down the line after Christian has made it as a main eventer via the SD scene. As I said elsewhere too show is probably ideal to make Swagger seem a legitimate champ if he can beat him.

I can't wait to see this, sounds excellent.

    NXT results:
"Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event..." The WWE video leads us into the show.

The NXT video plays and we're brought into the arena with some pyro. Michael Cole and Josh Mathews welcome us to the show. We're two weeks away from the next Pro's Poll, where the person in last place will be eliminated.

Matt Striker is in the ring with the NXT rookies and he introduces them to the crowd. Striker reminds them that the Pro's Poll is in two weeks and one will be eliminated. Striker also reminds them that the winner will not only get a contract but they'll also get a World Title shot on a PPV. Striker reminds us that Skip Sheffield won the "Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em" Tournament last week and got a feature on WWE.com, where over 10 million people saw his face.

Tonight they're going to test the rookies' likability and salesmanship in the "Seal the Deal Challenge." Each of the rookies will come out into the crowd. The concept is to sell the most merchandise possible in a sixty second time frame. Whoever does will earn a match next week against a WWE Pro of their choosing.

Skip Sheffield is the first salesman and he joins Matt Striker at ringside. He's given programs and change. It's $15 per program. What a rip-off. No one is giving up the dough for these programs. He sells four programs in one minute. This is so stupid that I can't get over it. $60 is the amount to beat. Now we'll see our first match and this will continue throughout the show.

Christian and Heath Slater come down for a tag team match. They'll face Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett next.

    -Commercial Break-

Christian & Heath Slater (5-2) vs. Chris Jericho & Wade Barrett (4-4)

Chris Jericho and Heath Slater start it out. Slater is such a tool. He punches Jericho down and Jericho tags in Barrett. Slater gets a side headlock on and tags in Christian. Slater wrenches the arm and Christian comes off the second rope with an axe handle. Christian wrenches the arm but Barrett knees him and pushes him to the corner. Christian hits a back elbow and a missile dropkick for a one count. Jericho comes in and Christian takes him out. Christian then turns into a big boot. Barrett punches and makes the tag to Jericho. Jericho pummels Christian with punches and gets in the referee's face. Jericho hits a nice back suplex and looks angrily at the crowd.

Jericho punches Christian down in the corner and taunts the crowd. Jericho sends him to the corner and goes for a bulldog but Christian counters into a Reverse DDT. Slater is tagged in and he hits a flying forearm. Slater forearms him in the corner and sends Jericho to the ropes but lowers his head and eats a kick. Jericho goes for a clothesline but Slater counters into a bad neckbreaker. Wade Barrett breaks the count up. Christian then comes off the top rope with a cross-body on Barrett and takes him out with a plancha. Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho but Slater counters into an inside cradle for a near fall. Jericho then hits the Codebreaker and gets his revenge with a pinfall victory over Slater.

Winners by Pinfall: Chris Jericho & Wade Barrett (5-4)

Matt Striker is in the crowd with Daniel Bryan. Bryan has to beat $60 in revenue. Bryan says he's not a capitalist and throws a bunch of programs out into the crowd. He makes nothing because of his stance against capitalism. Michael Cole calls him a tool. I can't take this guy any more.

We're shown Darren Young winning a triple threat against Michael Tarver and Skip Sheffield, despite Luke Gallows attempting to cost him the match. We then see footage of Tarver with Carlito from earlier in the day in the parking lot. Carlito says he needs to take advantage of the opportunities given to him. Carlito then makes him carry his bags into the building.

    -Commercial Break-

Did you know that NXT has been the number one show on SyFy since it debuted nine weeks ago?

Justin Gabriel is in the crowd to sell and everyone wants to buy from him. He sells a bunch and makes $330 after selling 22 programs.

Michael Tarver comes out with Carlito for a match. They show a video featuring the pros talking about what they think of him. The general consensus is he hasn't shown them anything and he'll probably be the first guy eliminated.

Michael Tarver (0-6) vs. Darren Young (6-2)

The bell rings and they circle the ring. They lock up and Young powers Tarver to the corner. Tarver turns him and punches. Tarver whips him hard to the opposite corner and is backed up by the referee. Tarver hits a reverse powerslam for a two count. Tarver stomps him and punches him in the corner. Tarver locks a submission on. Young fights up but Tarver knocks him down. Young eventually gains some momentum with a nasty forearm shiver to the face. Young hits a dropkick and hits a shoulder block for a near fall. Young sends Tarver to the corner but runs into a boot. Tarver jumps off the second rope gets punched. Tarver then bails from the ring.

Tarver attacks Young when he follows him and throws him into the ring. Tarver shoulders the midsection and yanks his arm into the ring post. All of a sudden Serena distracts The Goose and Luke Gallows attacks Michael Tarver. Young then hits his Swinging Full Nelson Face Buster for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Darren Young (7-2)

Darren Young looks for high fives from the S.E.S. but gets none. Luke pulls Serena near him, apparently out of jealousy.

David Otunga is with Matt Striker for the "Seal the Deal Challenge." Justin Gabriel's total was recalculated and it was $210. David Otunga says that celebrities don't do manual labor so he hires someone to do it. Otunga sells a bunch and we'll have the total after the break.

Our Main Event will be Skip Sheffield vs. The Miz.

    -Commercial Break-

The Raw Recap is show. I don't want to talk about how Smackdown got royally screwed.

A video hyping up Justin Gabriel plays. The pros talk about how they love his 450 Splash. Jericho calls him a one trick pony.

We see footage of last week when R-Truth refused to help Otunga cheat to win. We then see footage of them from earlier in the day. R-Truth told him that he doesn't play like that. If he can't run with the big dogs then he should stay on the porch.

We'll see more of the painfully stupid and boring "Seal the Deal Challenge" next.

    -Commercial Break-

Heath Slater is up. Otunga sold $315 worth of merchandise so he has to beat that. The "one man rock band" is incredibly uncharismatic during this. This is such garbage, as is Heath Slater. He didn't win.

Darren Young is up now. Darren Young asks if they want to see him face CM Punk next week. This is just such crap. He didn't beat $315 either.

Michael Tarver is up. He says he shouldn't be selling stuff. WWE should be selling him. He drops the bag and leaves. I can't wait for this guy to be eliminated. This is the worst challenge yet. Even Michael Cole and Josh Mathews are at a loss for words.

Wade Barrett is up now. Barrett says he's already proven tonight that he's the top rookie on the show. He was on the team that beat Christian. Barrett says he likes money so he's keeping the change and leaving. Barrett does just that.

Skip Sheffield will take on The Miz next.

    -Commercial Break-

A video hyping up Daniel Bryan is shown. The pros say that they basically love him. CM Punk says he's dead on and Jericho calls him a superstar. Matt Hardy says he doesn't have a personality. The pot called the kettle black, my friend.

David Otunga won the "Seal the Deal Challenge." Otunga says that one person who has irritated him is R-Truth and he'll face him next week. Otunga says it's time the student beats the teacher.

The Miz comes out with some bad make-up on, selling Big Show's punch last night. Skip Sheffield comes out and Miz grabs a microphone. He talks like Marlon Brando in the Godfather and says it's difficult to talk due to the trauma from Big Show's sucker punch. Miz won't be able to compete tonight. Taking his place will be Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan (0-8) vs. Skip Sheffield (0-5)

The match begins and Sheffield lifts him up but Bryan gets off. Bryan viciously kicks him and Sheffield pushes him. Bryan comes back with a dropkick and does the ground and pound. Bryan locks on a heel hook. Sheffield is in pain but gets to the ropes. Bryan kicks him in the face a few times but Sheffield catches one and clotheslines him inside out. Sheffield then hits a Sit-out Jawbreaker for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Skip Sheffield (1-5)

Danielson really is not going to get a win on NXT, it has to be the MIZ at this stage (0-8), he's like the anti-undertaker on his losing streak on what is the WWEs opposite of Mania in terms of size show.

and of course now the Miz is minus the tag belts he is going to start defending the US title again

Sorry I thought you meant NXT, not SD. Those NXT spoilers look horrendous.

Smackdown will be interesting now that that have to try something different.

    Poor Chavo.:pac:

Smackdown looks good but a lot of the stars on it won't be there next week which is the real test. Looks like flah called it right about Show being used to elevate Swagger. Wonder what they will do with Christian as he surely can't feud with Edge.
    Dark Match:

    * Goldust b. Dos Caras, Jr.

I've been wanting to see this guy in action on SD (Dos Caras Jr that is). Wonder if he'll get an opportunity in future.

I've noticed him doing a lot of dark matches lately and I think he even wrestled at the show in Dublin a few weeks back. Should be interesting alright but I've read he has a bit of an attitude problem and thinks he's a star already after being a big enough deal in Mexico.

A few months jobbing to Golddust and Chavo will knock that outa him.:pac:

Mind you, hope it goes better than his MMA career.:pac:

I hate what they are doing to Bryan. It is a complete joke. Losing to freaking rookies every week. I could understand when he was losing to the pro's, or getting screwed by them, but he is losing clean to rookies. pathetic.

Only thing I can see in it is building up to a story line with with Miz having Miz cut some promos about Bryan "being utterly useless loser who lose to any one including rookies" over the title and then win clean over the Miz. Well that or for some stupid reason going for a utter burial from start to see if he'll stick around before a mega push. But I'd lean on the first option honestly.

Yes Miz has lost the tag titles so now surely he must start defending the US title so hopefully he loses it to Bryan

Which would immediately drag him down to the midcard by association, it should be nothing but Swagger and Punk for Christian. I don't mind the fact that Danielson is losing but it's the way he's losing. They're one or two minutes glorified squash matches. The guy is supposed to be the best wrestler with the least personality but the way it comes across on TV is that he's the worst wrestler with the most personality (despite the fact that they never mention it).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,082 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

Just watched SD. Good show. Good matches and after the draft they established as many people as possible.

Loved the Masters segment. Swagger's promo was good and Show has successfully made the switch to face.

Seems like Punk will still be feuding with Mysterio and maybe MVP, so Christian will probably be used to enhance a midcarder like Ziggler or McIntyre.

Hopefully JTG will be put in an IC feud too. They have a lot of solid midcard workers who could make the IC strap important again with lots of good matches and TV time devoted to it.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,521 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Maybe I'm going mad. But the I keep seeing Signs that the whole Daniel Bryan thing is to lull the miz into a match.

The Pros all called Bryan a superstar and not just the faces, but the heels to except for Miz. Miz can't see whats so great about Bryan. Its really annoying Miz that everyone else like Bryan.

Then Bryan kicks the **** out of someone to show what he can do before making a mistake and losing fast.

Did anyone else see the way Regal behaved after the Match, looking at Bryan, scratching his chin and smiling as if to say "I see what your upto".

I really enjoyed Smackdown. MVP didn't wait long to rob Sheltons finisher! When will cody get some proper music?

Swagger should say away from the mic he is terrible on it imo

Yea same if only they could hold it off till WM. Knew it wouldnt take long before they turned Edge heel (which suits him way more)

Enjoyed SD aswell , the only thing is SD need more heels especially in the ME all they have atm is Swagger and Punk.

Just watched SD, Swagger is really getting over isn't he?
Everytime he went to open his mouth he was met by either a chorus of boos or "you suck" chants. I hope they give him a good run with the belt, if they book him correctly and don't go down the usual route of having the heel drop the belt after one or two title defences, then I could see him as a genuine successor to the likes of Triple H, Batista etc

I loved the Edge & Christian confrontation but the crowd wasn't into it at all. I guess there were a lot of kids in the audience and they didn't understand what all the fuss was about, but I loved every second of it. I like how they're playing it off as if Edge used everybody to get his way, I love the dirtbag Ultimate Opportunist and I wasn't really liking his face run at all, thank God we won't have to hear another "Spear Spear Spear" chant again!

    *hic*

i loved the Christian/edge but too but especailly thid bit. There were loads of people on here complaining about the "Spear Spear Spear" bits but thnkfully they incorporated this into the whole edge going back to being a heel thing and now it could actually be worthwhile as tbh he could still get the crowd to chant it but now it would be playing into his heelish antics with him getting the crowd to do whatever he wants.

SD as a whole (was good) seemed to be based around getting over peoples heel/face status for me, be it Swaggers segments (he called Bush the greatest US president afterall), Shows KO'ing Jericho, Edge and Swagger or Edge's using the (gulp) WWE Universe and they all worked which is impressive considering how all their status's were all done set in just one show.

I cant stand listening to him on the mic tbh he trys too hard to be like Jericho imo

I agree with Liz. I liked Swagger better when he was playing that sort of cocky U.S. jock type of a character. Now they have him parading around in a suit cutting these serious promos. It's like they're going for the Jericho effect. Not really working for me so far though I think he has potential to be a good champion.

I enjoyed the Christian/Edge confrontation on SD. Unlike mr.mayo I actually thought the crowd were into the E&C references pretty nicely. I'd love to see a feud between those two down the line. I do think the way they have handled the Edge heel turn has been very lame. Shouldn't be a problem for Edge as he is an awesome heel but I wish they had put a bit more thought into it.

One other thing, I really hope we're not going to have Edge and Jericho working together now on Raw. That would be so dumb.

Edge is once again a heel. Love it. :D

Not the best SD. Over The Limit is gonna be a pretty terrible event if Big Show and Swagger are headlining. Hopefully they'll turn it into a cage match or something to make it a bit more interesting.

It's not like they'll be going out last.

Big Show looks to being built into the loss that people wanted Undertaker to have against Swagger on Raw. While I don't agree with that sentiment from the match, Swagger/Show is fine with me. ;)

It could be a test for Swagger from the higher ups. If you can put on a decent match with Show you can put one on with almost anybody.
