    Hi,
I am a retailer and recently switched Banks, currently with Bank of Ireland, to process customer's Credit or Debit cards do I have any choice but to go with Elavon as they seem to be the proivider associated with Bank of Ireland.

Currently quoting me a Transaction fee of .25c on all Debit Cards and 1.9% for Credit Cards with a monthly rental of €33+VAT for a Bluetooth terminal.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I was with Elavon (BOI customer) up until last sept (i left them as they are beyond appalling to deal with)

1.25% on credit cards (get a Blended rate - this is essential), 18c laser cards and rental was €24 a month approx.

I'm now with AIB (i do all ym banking with boi still) at 1.1% blended, 16c laser, and 22 a month rental

    Hi Hammertime,
Thanks for reply, I was with AIB Merchant services but I was under the impression since I was no longer an AIB customer I had to leave them, even though I now bank with BOI can I use AIB Merchant services for Credit/debit cards transactions? To be honest when I was previously with them I had no complaints (i.e. AIB Merchant services).

no you can still use them, the only downside is it can take about 3/4 days for the funds to hit your account in BOI whereas if you bank with AIB it takes only a day.

if you cannot asorb this into your cashflow structure then you have an issue.

Otherwise by all means stay with your current provider.
