help with car

    i couldnt really find the right spot where to post it so i figured this must be it i just passed my test and now am a full licence driver just wanted to ask the more experienced drivers when i reverse and lock my wheel to right or left fully there is a high pitched sound coming from under the bonnet now my question is is it the timing belt or could it be something to do with powersteering belt or anyrthing else?

    Sounds like an Aux belt/fan belt. Shouldn't be expensive to sort

    if it only happens when the wheels are fully locked it could be more to do with your wheels. such as bearings. or possibly even your drives

    If that were the case then the noise would only occur when the car was moving. My money's on the PS drive belt too.

    I'd check power steering fluid level too.

    Last lear I had a similar problem, a high pitched squeal when the steering was locked, it turned out to be the p/s pump. The pump was leaking fluid onto the belt causing it to squeal, the fluid also managed to make its way into the bearing for one the belts tensioners, this would occasionally squeal too.
