I was clearing a rental house today and found a bunch of unopened prescription medicine

It was a doctors apartment ( he is gone to another country)

10 boxes of Levonorgestrel the emergency contraceptive tablets

    a box of Cipramil

    some baclofen

and a blister pack of Flagyl

    All in date.

rather that binning this stuff. Is there a program where it can be donated to those in need??

Seem like an waste of valuable med to throw away

You've hit the nail on the head in your opening sentence. They are prescription medicines. As such, unless they were prescribed for you, or you're a pharmacist, doctor, licenced pharmaceutical wholesaler etc etc etc, you're not supposed to be in posession of them really. The doctor should have disposed of them properly before moving out, and tbh it seems very irresponsible for him to have left them lying around.

I'm fairly sure that the third world charities such as Goal or Concern won't be able to take them from you; firstly, as far as I know they don't ship meds to the third world, and secondly even if they did I would imagine they would source the meds they actually need in bulk, rather than having to sort through random donations and possibly have to go to the expense of disposing of those that aren't suitable.

The best advice I can offer to you is to bring them into your local pharmacy who will put them into the bin for correct disposal. Please don't throw them into your own bin, and whatever you do don't be tempted to give them to anyone else who you think might need them.

    +1 on locum-motions advice.
Most chemists promote a return unused medication scheme and its the only route to take. Some of those medications are frankly dangerous.

What is a male doctor doing with 10 boxes of the "morning after" pill?? If it was a single pack you could imagine a drug rep giving a sample. Strange.

    i wondered that too.

then i speculated that he may have collected samples so that he could give them to his conquests after one night stands

then i decided i didnt want to pursue that train of thought any further!

he was an Arabic doctor . All the boxs had Arabic writing on them. Along with english. I doubt he got them in ireland.

I was wondering on this also.

I remember an ex girlfriend having to take them once. Nasty nasty drug. she was very very sick indeed.
