Can someone explain this to me?

I was at a gig recently in a big enough venue and there were one or two people who felt the need to wolf whistle throughout the show.

Why? If it's funny then why not just laugh?

    What does wolf whistling achieve?

They're just ar*eholes and should have been asked to leave. It's an occupational hazard for comedians, I guess.
