I've resorted to writing this in Opera with a big glaring ad staring at me from the top-right of my screen. Needless to say, I'm not pleased.

For some reason completely unbeknownst to me, Chrome has decided to stop working. Firefox works. IE8 works. Opera works. Chrome? Nah.

Now theoretically this could be due to the fact that someone somehow managed to acquire some sort of (relatively benign) virus about 5 minutes after formatting back to Windows XP. How is well beyond me, and I'm still berating him for it, but I digress.

Basically if I try to open Chrome (it was working fine previously) it loads absolutely nothing. Just white, with "untitled" as the page name, regardless of the tab I try to load. Eventually (and I mean after about 3-4 minutes) it goes to a different screen which I hadn't seen previously only to tell me the webpage I'm trying to access is unresponsive (gee, thanks). No "This webpage is not available." It doesn't even come up with the "Connecting..." bar. Just.. white.

I've uninstalled. Run a virus scan (clean). Deleted the registry entries for everything Google-related, nevermind just Chrome. Removed everything with the word "chrome" in it from the computer. Restarted. Reinstalled. Nada.

    Suggestions?

EDIT: Forgot to add that Chrome won't even open offline pages. I'm working on a design and it won't allow me to preview it in Chrome, but allows in all other browsers.
