I got an on-one merino jersey recently and quite like it. It's a handy option for the commute and you could even get away with wearing it casually.

Anywhere else to get nice merino jerseys? I was looking at Twin Six, they have some nice ones, expensive though.

I know some people might not like Rapha, but they do make nice jerseys, have a couple and love them! hate wearing normal jerseys now and will always go for a Rapha one first.

Thinking of trying the Campag ones though, but read one or two people not happy with the quality.

I'd be a big fan of the wool jersey all right, particularly given the Irish climate. It's worth distinguishing between jerseys that are a blend of wool and synthetics, and those that are 100% wool. A 100% merino jersey is very soft and comfortable but it will tend to stretch in the wet if you stuff the pockets and requires a bit more care and attention in the laundry than a blend.

I think Rapha's jerseys are far and away the best designed and tailored jerseys I've ever worn - every detail on them seems well thought out. However they are only 40% wool. I have one 100% wool jersey from Vintage Velos which is basically the shop front for Woolistic - magnificent replicas of old pro team jerseys but you might find them a bit thick if you're used to synthetics. I dream of getting them to do a run of Audax Ireland jerseys some day. I wear Smartwool medium weight undershirts (again 100% merino) for commuting - they're actually more like a thin jumper than an undershirt so I wear them through the day at work. Smartwool have just come out with a line of cycling gear - jerseys, shorts, tights etc - but I think you might be hard to put to get them outside of the US. I'll definitely pick one up if I get the chance though. I had a Swobo LS back in the day which I wore until it disintegrated - the company revived a few years ago and I would hope the quality is as high as before. Mrs Rottenhat just got a jersey from them so I'll check that out.

There are stacks of others out there now - Ibex, Kucharik, Ground Effect, Shuttr, Icebreaker - but I'm not sure you'll find any of them in an actual shop in Ireland.
