CRACKILING PICTURE ADVICE NEEDED

    Hi,

I did a job recently as outlined below and I have a problem on 1no of the TV's

    SETUP BEFORE I DID WORK:
    • Aerial with mast head amp for RTE, BBC etc etc.
    • Above aerial distributed via passive splitters
    • Sky+HD in living room with 2no cables ran down outside of house and in through wall directly to receiver.
    • Cable from RF2 on HD box ran outside and up wall into attic and connected to downlead to TV in playroom with TVlink eye for remote control.
    • RF2 channel is 45.
    WORK DONE BY ME:
    • Where the cable coming up from RF2 to the attic joined the downlead to the playroom, I opened the connection and put a labgear 4way distribution amp powered by the RF2.
    • Plugged the existing downlead to the playroom into it to activate that link again etc.
    • Took an exisitng down lead (running to another room) out of the existing passive splitter and inserted into the new labgear amp to allow the addition of a TV link eye in the other bedroom.
    PROBLEM/RESULT:
    • the picture(s) on the main TV are great and the guy is happy with the way everything is tuned in and working(reckons it was never right till now!!!)
    • Pictures on all other TV's in house ie. terrestrial pictures via passive splitter are perfect.
    • Pictures in bedroom where I put extra magic eye(LINK) are perfect, both sky and terrestrial and the link works.
    • Terrestrial pictures in playroom arte perfect, remote link works perfectly BUT, when I put on channel for sky(no.9 channel 45) the picture is crystal clear but every so often the picture crackles badly and then comes back again. It does this randomly but often enough to annoy yopu. This doesn't happen on the terrestriel channels on same TV
Has anyone any ideas on what it could be. I checked the connections at the amp as these are the only ones that I did and they seem fine. It is only this TV that is giving problems.

does the crackling only occour on the sky channel, or only on the terrestrial or both?

is it a stereo tv ?
If so try and turn off the stereo sound.
Or try a different ch for sky.

    Thanks.

But all these settings are the same as they were before I did any work so they shouldn't really be causing any problem.

I'll try your suggestions and see but I don't think they'll make a difference.

I cant understand why the other TV with the link and fed from the same amp is working fine. Also why it's only while watching sky that the problem exists.

    Thanks for the replies .

I went there yesterday evening and sat watching it for ages and the picture was perfect. The woman in the house reckoned it was cracking like mad all evening.

Had several cups of tea and nothing happened. Then the kids went upstairs and it started happening a few minutes later.

I changed the RF from 45 to 55 and it stopped. Changed it back and it started again, changed it back to 55 again and it stopped.

Must be something the kids turned on that was affecting it along the downlead.

Left it on 55 and it seemed ok.................haven't had a phonecall yet anyway!!!!!

    Thanks
