Motor Trade

I need some advice form some one who has worked in the motor trade, is it worth doing some training courses to work in the industry?
Have a meeting with a career advisor soon and have being thinking about going down this root.
I have done a few different jobs in the past but none motor trade related apart form driving, I've always had an interest in cars and into motor sports never miss Top Gear on Sunday nights (that’s my soap) they say work with your passion. Driving a Taxi a 2 years now it's wrecks my head never made any money from it,
I well and truly missed the boom days in that game and that’s a fact ! Check buy&sell see how many taxi plates are for sale.

Now I known the trade is been hit badly with the R word but doing training courses could take a year so maybe worth a punt?
I'm in my 40's so would not expect to go in as a technician more towards sales, parts, service advisor - I have back ground in customer services I would sit happier in those type of roles

Any pointers would be most helpful good or bad

The motor trade is largely only being kept going by the scrappage scheme afaik. Lots of guys moving out of it, bigger garages letting guys go etc.

Think you might have to look elsewhere tbh.
