(If you don't know what PokéSpecial is, go Google it...)

So, I recently noticed an image from a preview of the latest releases in Japan of the PokéSpecial HGSS arc, and I have to say that I have lost a little bit of love for the series because of it...
Crys totally does not go into Lyra's outfit well. At all. At the very least they could have at least got rid of the ghastly looking hat... Although they did gain some credibility back by working Crys' mum into the story and apparently she is the reason behind Crys' outfit change... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v103/Coronis/Pokemon/Images/CrysMa.jpg

Still though, ugh. I need to go throw up...

I own the first thirty volumes in English having imported them from Singapore. Am waiting on volumes 31 and 32 to arrive soon. Everything else hasn't yet been releases translated, so I rely on Coronis' summaries and translations of the latest Japanese magazine releases to figure out what the story is.

Where do you buy them from? I'd love to get them.

I get them imported from a seller on eBay. Bought a job lot of Volumes 1-27 (or so) for around two hundred quid, and each extra volume is another twenty (ten for the book, ten P&P). Expensive but worth it.

Although he's been a little behind and very slow lately, so I've had to resort to fan translations on mangafox :/

    (shameless necro)

So, if you're looking at getting into the main Pokémon manga, you can get volumes 1-14 of the main arc (Red/Blue/Green, Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal arc currently; Ruby/Sapphire, FireRed/LeafGreen and Emerald arcs to come) , volumes 1-3 of the Diamond and Pearl arc, and the first two from the new Black and White arc from the Book Depository for €82 with free delivery :)

If you need links to the individual pages, let me know; or you can find the ISBN's from http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Pok%C3%A9mon_Adventures_volumes

Indeed. I've just gotten into it recently. I didn't realize the franchise was capable of such consistently good storytelling.

I've noticed there's volumes based in Shinnoh, but there's also a separate Diamond & Pearl manga. Is it the same thing?

All depends on the actual title. VIZ are releasing the DPPt (and Black and White) series separately since it's pretty much separate to the other regions, and there's no characters or spoilers from the main arc.

Although there is a series called Diamond and Pearl Adventure which is a completely different thing altogether!

Would that be the one that says 'Only for sale in Singapore' on the back?

And Viz are the ones printing in the West with edits, am I correct in that? Someone else handles the Singaporean releases?

No I mean, DPA is a completely different manga series altogether

Yea, Viz are doing the American and European English releases, but they are taking liberties by releasing the Diamond and Pearl arc, and the Black and White are on a separate release schedule to the normal progression that happened in Japan. In fact right now BW in Japan is still just in the magazine strips... Viz release them with a few edits for their audience, but also release them in their normal right-to-left direction.

Chuang Yi handles the Singaporean releases. They release them in the original Japanese order, but they also mirror them to left-to-right. As well as that, some bits are lost in translation - the translations were actually really bad back in RBY/GSC, but they've gotten much better since then.

I can see why that guy on E-bay is making a tidy living off exporting the Singapore/Malaysian releases. He's selling them at around double-ish the standard price, with ten issues clocking in at around 120e, whilst standard store prices range at around 50e for the same number of books. Free shipping though, so boon, I guess. I found a Singaporean retailer willing to ship this side of the Earth, but there's gaps in their stock and no indication on when it'll be filled.
Anyone got any ideas on a well-stocked e-retailer willing to ship to Ireland, and's a little more reasonable?

Needless to add, I'm raging I didn't pick up more Brick-'N-Mortar when I had the chance.

They sell a very limited range in forbidden planet. I say limited, cos their's only a few in right now, but they seem to re stock every few months or so.
