Bellinter House Hotel - Voluntary Liquidation!!!

    Hi,

We had the owner of Bellinter House Hotel contact us yesterday to advise that the hotel had gone into voluntary liquidation!

He advised that we had nothing to worry about as they had set up a new company and the hotel would function as normal.

Has anyone any expericence of a hotel going through this?

I am very concerned as we are getting married in September and dont feel secure giving them more money at this stage, we have already given them a 2k deposit.

Finally I am worried that if we proceed, as they are assuring us that they will be trading as normal, that we may receive a phone call in, for example August, advising that despite all efforts they will be closing, hence I have no venue and have spent alot of money..

Should we cut our losses and try to get our deposit back and re-arrange, even though we only have 4 months to go, or stick it out and hope for the best?

I am also not sure how a voluntary liqiudation works and what position a "customer" is left in.....

I believe there are many hotels being run like this at the moment. Tulfarris house hotel being one and I worked there quite recently and everything seemed fine. Try the weddingsonline forum to see if there are any other couple is a similar situation.
