Look Keo Classic are pretty well priced and perform well.

If you want second hand I have my trusty Ultegra pedals to sell. 2 years old but solid as a rock and the cleats have some life left in them yet. Fairly scuffed up, but they perform well and I really miss them.

I think this shoe and this pedal are a pretty decent combo. Personally I'd make the splurge to a Look Classic

I use Time RXS and went for them over Speedplay specifically as they had a relatively cheap entry-level pedal and I had a number of bikes to kit out.

Having said that I think all the systems probably work; some are reputed to be kinder if you have knee issues, etc. but if you don't have those issues anyway...

Shimano SPD-SL and Look Keo have the cheapest entry-level pedals at around £25 and £30 respectively. Time is a little pricier starting around £45. Speedplay's entry level is much more expensive, around £90.

I don't have experience with all those systems but my experience of Shimano SPD and Time RXS is that there is not a whole lot of difference between the entry-level pedal and the top of the range (I have between M520 and XT in SPD and the cheap Edge and the Ti spindle pedal in Time.) Very slight weight savings seems to be all.

Thats my exact combo and no complaints. Work well, easy to clip in and out, and plenty of float.
