Roof truss / wallplate / cavity closer?

I'm thoroughly confusing myself with what is probably simple.

I have built a 300mm garage with a cavity wall, with a 100mm inner, 100mm cavity and 100mm outer leaf. I am now up near wallplate level and am wondering how to close the cavity, yet provide a sound footing for the wallplate.

I am thinking of using a standard block to close the cavity, (215mm wide) flush with the inside of the inner leaf and just resting about 15mm on the edge of the outer leaf.
I would also have to "bevel" the edge of the closer block to allow the roof truss to pass.
Is this common practice? Is it ok to just have 15mm resting on the outer leaf?

As far as I know, the roofers are planning to fix the wallplate with express nails.

    Thanks.

best practise is to close cavity with a 12 inch block this spreads the weight evenly.if its a cut roof its simple to make a rafter to suit.if its a truss roof you can then build a soap bar or whatever you need on top of 12 inch block .hope this helps
