Cheap (er) climbing equipment

    Hey,

Just started indoor climbing recently, have harness, belay plate, chalkbag and shoes. Went outdoors two weeks ago and am hooked. I'm living in northwest and trying to source climbing gear, just the basics to get me out on the rocks.

Any suggestions? From a casual look around prices in connaught are sky high (185 Euro for rope, 30 for carabiners)..or am I just being naive and climbing just costs and arm and a leg?

Looking for rope, basic protective gear, load of snap link carabiners and few screw gates, plus anchor gear.

Also, whats the deal with self belaying or is that just for Andy Kirkpatrick?
