Hi Im a very confused bride to be.Im wondering if people could throw a few ideas my way for after the wedding reception.Basicly My Partner and I are not too keen on the usual hotel type reception with three course meal scenario. I would like to do something different after the church. Something relaxed and fun and not formal.I dont want a huge fuss and neither does my partner.
Were getting married next May.Im hoping its a nice day would love to have it outdoors in nice gardens...anybody any ideas to throw my way..?would be much appreciated.

Would you consider having a BBQ, my oh suggested this
if you have a nice garden, or maybe you can find somewhere bigger for the day?

Mmmm, BBQ. We're hoping to do that for the rehearsal dinner, if we can find a place!

OP, another idea might be a cocktail-type reception . . . just a lot of finger foods and hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. You could do higher tables and people could mill around and mingle as opposed to being seated at one table for a larger part of the evening. It's a bit more casual and relaxed, I think, than a sit-down dinner.

My cousin got married in London and they hired out there local bar for after their wedding.

On arrival there were a selection of cocktails and canapes. About an hour later they had buffet tables set up in a couple of areas of the bar. People went up and down and helped themselves.

They also had a few tables with glasses of wine and juices etc available. The bar was also open if people wanted to buy beer etc.

It was a really enjoyable night were people were able to move around freely rather than being stuck at the same table for the meal.

Hunter Hotel near Rathnew might be worth a look. It's less hotel and more an inn. It's effectively an old coach house with lots of character and beautiful gardens. The quality of food is pretty decent too.

Worked at a wedding in the Leeson Court Hotel and the meal was a BBQ, so tasty and really good for getting people talking.
