Went into my local Art'n'Hobby shop on Sunday. Had a quick glance at their selection of Warhammer 40k models. Was also looking for the latest White Dwarf issues. As i was about to leave, I spotted a large box near the floor. My interest pipped I went over to look. And what did I see, but a nice new shiny wrapped Space hulk game. And for 78euro too. needless to say, I skipped over to the till with it hand. Apparently it had been placed behind newer sets that had come in and it has found on Friday as they were getting something down for a customer. I'm happy because: a) I now have a nice shiny second copy (b) it was at the RRP set by Gamesworkshop (c) I can now make super Space Hulk games for up to 6 players.

Deadly! Well done that's a great find, when it came out they were selling it for 90 euro in GW Liffey Street so you got a real bargain there!!

They were? But thats ABOVE the RRP set by Games Workshop themselves!
I was delighted when I saw it! I had originally planned to get two but money issues got in the way. Also I thought it would be mean for me to buy half the shops stock of Space Hulk also at the time. But now, I don't mind at all!

I got 1st edition for 30 euro on ebay a few months ago, everything (including 1st+3rd edition doors and stands, oddly) except the figures.

Its never too late, I reckon some people having played the 3rd ed a few times might be starting to sell them on, especially those who might be moving aboard.

I've seen the unpainted models on ebay. Most sell individually for £3 for the marines and a £10 for the set of genestealers

Space hulk is a board game based games, set in the existing Warhammer 40k universe. It can be set pre or post 40K.
Its a standalone game with different rules to normal 40k

It's a blast from the past, that's what. I still have the original with all the expansion packs. €90 sounds mental price!

Spacehulk is set in the 40k universe, though not in any particular time, other than a generic 'now'.

Release-wise, it probably came out about 1st or 2nd ed 40k era .. I could go and look up an exact date if you're really that curious :)

As has been mentioned, it's Marine Terminators battling Genestealers in the depths of Space Hulks, though back when it was first released there were WD rule expansions that let you use Imperial Guard and Chaos Marines as well.

There was also a rather bizarre spoof expansion in an April edition of Dragon magazine that had the terminators performing dances in the hulks. Possibly they wanted to confuse the stealers to death :)

1st edition. I bought it way back in the day (90s for me admittedly), and have the two expansion packs too (Deathwing & Genestealer) along with the campaigns expansion book (see below). As a foot note; the short story found in the original 'Death Wing' Ian Watson/GW novel can also be found in the Deathwing rulebook.

All of those rules/campaigns/etc. are covered in the expansion book "Space Hulk Campaigns" which has a yellow border for anyone looking.
