    Tonight/Tomorrow night :P

    Guest starring is
    Kristin Chenoweth as April Rhodes

I wonder how they're going to play out the whole Jesse thing. I'm not sure I like this storyline very much!

I dunno abut you guys but
I found that person really annoying and boring. Using spoilers because people may guess who it is if i say she was in it already. I find it a bit sidetracking form the overall story. boo

    Yeah, I have to agree.
Surely they went as far as they could go with that character?

It'll be worth having her back just so she can sing again though. Whatever about the character, Kristin Chenowith has an incredible voice.

    Oh absolutely. However,
while I loved last week's episode it wasn't really one for plot development. I guess I'd like to see things moving forward instead of backwards.

Hopefully we'll have plenty of Sue this episode too! *crosses fingers*

I know some people are going to be happy because:
There were no Rachel solos and Mercedes and Kurt got a lot of airtime.

But I wasn't that thrilled with the episode. It wasn't bad - I'm not that picky, so I've never been truly disappointed with Glee - but it was just a'ight. I'm not a big
Chenowith fan and was bored with the Schue-April subplot.

I wish they would have done more with Sue this episode too.

I loved Kurt's solo, but having Finn in part of it was a bad idea. His voice just can't compare to Kurt's. And I continue to be unimpressed by Mercedes. She sounds just like any other belter on American Idol.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,151 ✭✭✭beanyb

I wasnt crazy about this episode... I prefer Glee when it's tongue in cheek and ridiculous. I dont think they should try be deep and meaningful. It doesnt really work.
April was pretty pointless. I love Kristen Chenoweth, but it was an unneccessary story really. Mercedes and her empowerment was boring. As was Quinn's cheesy involvement in that. I didnt mind the Kurt and Finn story. And to top it all off... I didnt really like any of the songs this week. I hate to say it, but I kinda missed Rachel.

Dont know if we still need to spoiler... but thought I'd do it to be safe anyway!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,894 ✭✭✭Chinafoot

Hmmm...not sure how I feel about this episode.

    I liked
the Kurt storyline with his dad.

    Loved
    Springsteen's Fire
but overall not too impressed with the songs.
Bringing April back seemed like a step backwards.

I'm a big fan of Mercedes
but thought 'Beautiful' was such an obvious choice

Might watch it again tonight :P

    April is back why

Meh I didn't mind April being back, she's just so good! Kurt was pretty good, but I keep finding myself really bored with the episodes recently - they are lacking something that the earlier episodes had.... perhaps we are in a phase of introducing more characters and it's a bit of growing pains, we'll see.
The whole idea of the competition seems to be gone out the window and then yanked back in when they need it for plot device.

In all a pretty mediocre episode with a few good one-liners from April and Brittany

edit: Oh, I also really liked the Finn's mum & Kurt's dad story. Feel a little bad for Kurt tho

    This episode is f*cking woeful!

Gone is the witty dialogue and back are the cringey performances. And not enough Sylvester or Brittney either!

Christ.. the 3 episodes since it came back just seemed to have gotten worse and worse!

    Pure tat!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,396 ✭✭✭lindtee

Agree with a lot of others here - Mediocre episode although I did like the ending. Most of the songs in the episode were very cringey and I just don't like to see Will singing, his appearance while doing so gives me the heebie jeebies for some reason.
Like the Finn's mum/Kurt's dad storyline too.
Hopefully next weeks episode will be better:)

(ps - Amazed to see a whole section dedicated to glee, just did a quick search of boards for glee and came across it. Well done Boards:))

Have to agree this was one of the weakest episodes. The songs were terrible too!
Sue is the one that saves the show in my opinion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,722 ✭✭✭anotherlostie

Yeah, I didn't think it was great. In part because I didn't really know any of the songs apart from Beautiful, and it was too much of a lovefest. I enjoyed the parents' storyline, especially Kurt's Dad telling him not to look to change him - after all he doesn't try to change Kurt. Be careful what you wish for Kurt!

I actually thought Sue got plenty of airtime, but she really should have got her comeuppance on this one. Maybe this is the story that will lead to
    Olivia Newton John's appearance
. The other thing I found hilarious was how all the good looking Glee kids were up with Mercedes in the hall when she was looking for the fat, ugly, spotty ones to join her!

And what is going on with Groff? He was highly publicised as being part of this run, gets special billing on the credits and yet hardly got a look in again tonight. And Naya Rivera got her own billing again tonight despite not having a solo, so she must be considered 'more important' than Britney and the dancing boys.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,347 ✭✭✭Closed ac

Didn't really like any of the songs that much, but I did enjoy the storyline today.

I thought that April & Will singing in bed together was so funny though.. and I don't think that's what was intended! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 539 ✭✭✭DingosAteMyBaby

Definitely one of the worst episodes! Loved Kristin Chenoweths first appearance, it was one of my favourite episodes, but this did seem pointless and they didn't use her as well as in "the rhodes not taken". Would have liked her to have come back as a famous broadway diva or something like that, hopefully she will in the 2nd season:)

the songs were pretty crap, but I only knew one of them so maybe thats why. And they could've made a Kurt/Mercedes

I did like the parents getting together storyline, until Kurt kept ruining it with his dramatics:mad: his poor dad can't do anything right by him!!

This is a lesson to all the rachel-haters, see what happens when she doesn't feature that much:) And I agree that Jonathan Groff is being woefully underused!! I would love to see him become a series regular!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,850 ✭✭✭FouxDaFaFa

Okay, so mixed thoughts on this one.
I love Kristin Chenoweth and enjoyed April's first appearance but her coming back for this really was a bit pointless.

I did enjoy the Kurt/Finn storyline but I think they overdid Finn's grief a bit because we haven't really seen a lot of his home-life yet, it was all a bit sudden.

Was also a bit disappointed that Jesse spent the whole episode loitering around Rachel. I want to know how they're getting on. I want them to sing!

Hopefully next week's will pick up a bit.

Edit: Oh, and Will singing freaks me out a bit too! I have no idea why.

That was pretty poor I have to say. The most annoying thing was the Mercedes politically correct storyline nonsense. They actually tried to portray obesity as just an image problem which you should be "ok" with, rather than a serious health issue.

You know what, I had an issue with this too, for a few reasons.

One, even though the timeline Sue gave her was ridiculous and Sue was generally insensitive, losing 10lbs isn't a bad idea for Mercedes. I'm sure a doctor might request the same thing, albeit in a more helpful, friendly manner. Being that overweight at that young of an age is not something to be proud of or to promote. And the truth is, Mercedes is on an athletic team (cheerleading is considered a sport in most of the US). It's not unreasonable to ask that she display a certain level of fitness.

My second issue in this plot line was how they portrayed the Cheerios as staying thin through unhealthy habits. To me, it seemed as though they were saying the only way girls could possibly be that thin was by starving themselves using shakes, etc. That's rubbish. Quinn, Santana and Brittany are slim and athletic, not scary skinny. When you're a teenager who works out 5 days a week, like most high school cheerleaders do, you're usually going to be slim and athletic. You can even get away with eating a fair amount of junk food under those circumstances.

    Anyway, I digress.

Anyone Notice that Puck mouthed "Your gay" to Finn?

I really enjoyed this episode, the Lack of rachel Berry helped that. She's by far the most annoying person ever.

Also, they were in a roller rink, and didnt sing Xanadu? For shame

    In conclusion... NEEDS MORE EMMA!

"And yes Britney, I do think your cat is reading your diary...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89,030 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

    It needed more of Puck

    The songs were crap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭MikeHoncho

Gone to the dogs has this show. Looks like the network have got there filthy little mits on the show and demanded more songs as they are making a pile of money off them.

I dont mind the singing when its in the context of the Glee club as it gives a reason for songs to be sung but it really annoys me when people randomly burst into song in say a Roller Disco.

It also seemed that before the break the songs were used to drive the story forward and give us some insight into character now its more like the story is just a vehicle to set up the songs.

What's weird is that many american commentators have said that this is the best episode yet???????????????????????????

I thought again, like all the recent episodes, it was plot light.

Its becoming less and less special.

I was disappointed with this week's offering. I knew hardly any of the songs. Beautiful was a really obvious choice. I didn't mind the spotlight being on Kurt and Mercedes but overall it did nothing for me. Kristin Chenowith added nothing to the mix this time either.

Still very underwhelmed with the last 3 episodes. It's gotten too preachy, I preferred it the way it was before the break.

I get this from it too, as much as I like the singing, don't do it as much.

I completely agree with all of this. But the whole accepting yourself seems to be the motto of so many American programmes, regardless of health issues like obesity. I agree everyone should accept themselves, but in that good health should be promoted.

As much as I hate to say it, I really hope the next few episodes improve, or I can see myself not being bothered watching it anymore. It's kind of just irritating me when I watch it at the moment.

She wouldnt be too happy knowing April stayed at Will's place

Preferred it to the last 2 episodes tbh, mostly cos of no Rachel, but if it keeps on going like this,I'll stop watching.

Everything that was special about this show seems to have been watered down in the mid-season break. It's fast becoming just another average American teen drama. Not enough of the dark humour of earlier episodes and the songs just seem totally separate from the plot. Such a shame really.

I'm actually enjoying it more after the break I think..

From about episode 1-5 I really questioned why I was watching the show, as I didn't find it that enjoyable.

It picked up after that and I felt last week's episode was the best of the season.

Agree, this was preachy, sentimental, predictable and moralising. The songs were dirges, and I hardly laughed - prob because there was hardly any Sue or Brittany. I wonder have they been told to make it more accessible and less cutting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,148 ✭✭✭✭KnifeWRENCH

Mixed feelings on this one. I hated the whole Mercedes thing; once again Glee getting far too preachy, and Quinn doesn't work at all as a nice/good character. Also disappointed that there was no Terri for the second week in a row.

On the plus side, there were some good moments:
*Sue: "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and make a call to the Ohio Secretary of Education to let him know that I will no longer be carrying photo ID. You know why?People should know who I am."
*Brittany: "I think my cat is reading my diary"
*Kurt, introducing his Dad to Finn's mom: "You both have dead spouses. You should talk"
*No Rachel solo. I don't mind the character but I'm not a big fan of her voice. I think Mercedes is a much better singer.

Also I quite liked seeing April back because I really like Kristin Chenowith. I loved her joyous reaction to her boyfriend dying, and how she laughed while telling the story to Mr Schue. :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,894 ✭✭✭Chinafoot

How do you people not know 'Fire'?? :P

Also, just on the obesity/Santana and Brittney thing. While I agree with pretty much everything said, I think the main point of the drinks they had (Brittney: Sometimes I put sand in mine) was more to emphasise how unreasonable and ruthless Sue is, rather than trying to say that no teenage girl could look like that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,894 ✭✭✭Chinafoot

How it should have been done :P

Were we meant to feel sorry for Kurt?

He manipulated everyone then ended up moanin like a baby when it all went belly-up

    Sap

Agree its lost its mojo since it came back. But at least the Madonna ep and the other had some good songs

There's no point in givin the others more screentime if they're gna be crap

Still, least we got a smidgen of Brittany

"sometime I put some sand in mine (drink)" :P

Worst episode ever imo. I really though it was pointless having Kirsten in it the first time, and now for a secnod time? Why?

Amd I love Kurt but seriously kiddo, why get all whingey and moany after you organsied the bloody date.

Story with Mercedes being told she had to lose weight, no offence, but boring. While I do knoe Glee is meant to be cheesey. obvious and cliche, it was a bit much.

More Emma and more Sue and please let Kirsten/April be gone FOREVER this time. I don't know or like any of her songs, yeah she has an amzing voice but they just use her as filler.

Oh and bring back Terri, she's a great character.

    /rant .

    Such a bloody boring episode.

I want more Emma, Rachel and even Terri! It's the nutty people that make the show fun

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12 lemred

As a glee fan, I cringed my way through this episode, it was just so boring. And the songs weren't even big, catchy numbers, just boring and forgettable. There needs to be some kind of plot development this Tuesday, or I think the show will never get its momentom back, and just slide into meh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 159 ✭✭thegoodgirl

I agree totally worst episode ever. So boring didn't even watch the end. Only knew one song and that wasn't even great. Hopefully tonights episode is better. It looks promising in the preview ad.
