    Nope they're private sector as they are paid out of company funds, and were therefore excluded from the two public sector pay cuts.

    I agree that they didn't cause the problem, but then again the public sector can make the argument that they didn't cause the bankers to go mad either.

    Wow - back in 2005, the average salary was over 80,000 (link). I'd say they can afford it!

    Just because the government has shored up the bank doesn't make it a part of the public sector, nor change the workers contracts, nor which union represents them.

    Though given that this is Ireland, I suppose someone will try to argue the case.

    *sigh*
