Driving down the M4 in a line of cars in the overtaking lane doing some overtaking :p I wasnt lane hogging or any of that lark.

A Renault MPV, I think it was a 06 was a couple of cars ahead of me, the driver didnt like the idea of being stuck behind a 7 series who didnt pull over when there were no cars to overtake but I could see why he didnt pull in.

She went to undertake and she had to floor it so she can cut back into the overtaking lane before getting stuck. There wasnt much room to complete the move but she managed it. You can see why the 7 series didnt pull in. Since we were going about 120-130 I doubt there was any go go left in the engine anyway. Then up the road she does something similar or at least a spirited overtake

    and

    BOOM!

White smoke and oil all over the road. Seemed very serious as the smoke was coming out the engine bay and not the exhaust.

It was pretty scary in terms of visibility from loads to none but I was the only one with hazards on, I actually needed rear fogs for about 20 seconds.

I put my first 7006 miles on my car today, I got my license in Jan and Im getting a good list of events like this including witnessing a trucks brakes catching fire and a trucks engine letting go in a less dramatic way, smoke pouring out the exhaust.

Im sure in a few years when the novelty of driving is gone that I wont think twice about these things, but its new to me.

Any stories to tell out there?

The MAN in the Garage will say

"When did you last service it?"
"................................I have to service the car as well!"

I remember delivering a car to a female customer once. I reminded her it was diesel, and she responded "Diesel? This must be a rare car because I thought diesel was for vans"
