    Hi All,
I'm planning at booking a break away (in Ireland) in August of this year, two young kids etc and ideally would love to get a self-catering home/lodge with plenty to do for the kids but also with access to golf. I've been to Mount Wolsely and that was perfect but looking for somewhere else this year.
    Has anyone any ideas ?

they hav lodges in Enniscrone and once you get decent weather there's plenty for kids to do
it's not an easy course so maybe let us know what age the kids are,if thery're too young to tackle that course maybe Bundoran would suit.

Faithlegg also have some nice self catering lodges on site with full access (nominal charge) to the hotel facilities . Nice Course and very accommodating , in that they matched me up with a couple of other guys on their own looking for a game.

I think you need to be a bit more specific.

What are do you want to go to? Do you want a beach for the kids and some interesting places to see?

Have a look at the Portrush area.

You have one of the best courses in Ireland (Royal Portrush) and some other nice courses such as Portstewart, Castlerock and a bit further away Ballycastle.

The White Rocks beach is great for kids. There's also the Giants Causeway, shopping in Coleraine, coffee shops in Portstewart, amusements at Portrush.

All in all you'll not be bored.

Hi...I stayed on fota Island last year, rented a small lodge on the grounds of the Sheraton hotel. Great golf course a stones throw away. There are loads of great places to go and visit with the kids, the fota Wildlife park, play centres, beaches etc.. all you need is a ray of sunshine..:)

Thanks everyone, some great suggestions there. Our 2 kids are infants so it would just be myself looking for some golf. The overiding emphasis would be on the kids.... as always!I actually work in the golf industry so well aware of the main international courses but rarely get to see resorts/hotels catering for families -- hence the enquiry. I do like to sound of Fota, know the course well. We've been to Rosapenna a few times and can't complain either, but looking for something different this year.

Hey everyone. Sorry for hi jacking your thread Tipp-Boy but i'm looking for the same thing but for a group of lads instead of family.

Basically any suggestions for a decent course that a gang could get out in, cheap enough with accom near by. Bear in mind we'll have a couple of serious amateurs in the group so the K-Club etc. not an option!

    Cheers.

P.S Tipp Boy probably best not to bring your family near us, tends to get rowdy!;)

Didn't know that they had self-catering there - it's only down the road from me. Golf wise you have Courtown next door (I'd give Seafield a miss), Bunclody, Arklow, Rosslare and The European all within about 45 minutes, and you have the joys of Courtown and its Pirate Cove theme park for the kids.

If you're down, Tipp-Boy, it's time we got in that round of golf!

Check out the apartments attached to the Gleneagle hotel in Killarney.

I've stayed in the apartments a few times when attending events in the INEC and access to leisure centre in the hotel is included with apartment stay.
Lots of golf nearby and plenty to see and do in Killarney itself.
