Connecting Sky & DVD Recorder

Hoping somebody out there can help me before this drives me mad .

I have a TV with two scart sockets. I'm hoping to keep one of these free for my Xbox 360 but if this isn't possible it's not my biggest concern. I've a Sky Plus box with two scarts sockets on the back (one is VCR the other is TV), aerial in, RF1 out and RF2 out.

Yesterday I bought a DVD Recorder. On the back of it is two scart sockets (one says to VCR/Sat, the other to TV).

Can someone please explain to me in simple, basic, step-by-step English how I can set this up so I can watch TV on Sky and also record from Sky onto DVD. Thanks for saving my sanity in advance :).

Did you get a manual with it. If not, then go on to the website of the manufacturer. What make and model is it ?

Can you do scart from skybox to dvd recorder and then another one to tv?
Does this work with scarts? Last time I hooked up a vcr was with the RF/aerial cables and connections in the pre-sky+ era

If you set your tv to the scart/av channel for the dvd recorder and on the dvd recorder set it to the av input channel from the sky box this should work (I think)

As dmeehan suggests, the output from the TV scart socket on the Sky box is passed through the DVR to the TV set via the DVR input and output scart sockets. The one thing to watch out for with some DVRs with this setup, is that when the DVR is turned off, you won't get the best possible picture quality on the TV. If the DVR doesn't have a hard drive, then leaving it on all the time isn't really an issue.
