Looks to be a trade off between the bigger screen of the acer or the better processor and better graphics of the dell. Although guessing by what you'll be using it for, the difference in the processors will be small, best i3 vs entry i5.

    Any Toshiba! top machines.

Im not too worried about the size of the screen as I will need it to be light enough. ( I usually have samples of cake to carry too!)
My main concern is the value for money. :D
My current laptop is a HP pavillion dv5000. its not been too bad but its got an intel centrino and 120gb memory. The socket to put the cable into is busted so it doesnt charge the battery easily. A few of the keys are coming off and its quite heavy. I have it 4 years now so hence the need for a change. :o
I would like this new laptop to last a few years too.
Bryaner: I havent seen a well priced toshiba with the same spec either. unless you could reccommend one for me.:)

Hi, can you please provide a link to these two machines as I can't find the Studio 15 at that price on the Dell site no matter what configuration I try.

    Thanks

If you are going to be using your laptop out and about you should know that most of the new monitors are very reflective. This is very annoying and almost makes me wish I hadn't upgraded. I have the i5 processor and I love the speed but not loving the reflections which makes it hard to work if you are anywhere near a window.

Funny you mention Dell and "other make" in one sentence.....

    - I advised my Parents to buy a Dell System a few years back a bit later there was issues that should have been dealt with under warranty. I spent literally hours over the course of a long number of days talking to every disinterested "IT Support" pretender in India who simply put me on hold, lied to me or else transferred my call around indefinitely until it dropped.

Initiated a claim with the Small Claims Court - Two days later had the first Irish involvement when some ditzy PA rang to ask could she smooth it all out.....

Please for your own sanity and peace of mind buy anything ahead of Dell.

    - Have a browse through the posts on here and you should get plenty of ideas - Also for iTunes storage you need Hard Drive space in Gigabytes (GB) - Don't confuse this with Memory (RAM).

    Best of luck!

My new one is a Sony Vaio and my old one is a Dell. I did look at all the monitors I could find to see which was the best but all the new model Laptops have the shiny monitors. The Dell inspiron does come with a matt screen and some very high end models/makes that were too expensive for me (eg lenovo).
I think I would give serious consideration to the Dell inspiron if I had to do it again even though it doesn't have the new processors.
My previous laptop was a 17" Dell inspiron which I found a bit on the heavy side when travelling so went 15" this time and it's a lot lighter. I should also mention that the long life battery on my 5yr old dell is as good as my new new Sony extended life battery.
