How long does jury service last generally?

Just got a letter in the door calling me for jury service soon. I had booked a holiday to Spain 18 days after the date I have been summoned. Is that enough time to get the whole thing done would you say?

I am a full time student so I don't necessarily have to do it, but I would love to take part in it. I know I may not actually be selected to be on the jury or anything, but would you say if I was chosen I'd be able to do it an still be able to go away? Whats the standard time for cases (I have no idea!).

(p.s. I know different cases last different amounts of time, but if someone could just give me a ballpark figure as to how long they generally last)

Typically 2 weeks would be an average figure.

I realise that if you are sworn in as a juror the timeframe can vary depending on the case but.................

How long are you expected to stay in the pool of potential jurors ? Surely this has a defined timeframe i.e 1 Week

The reason asking is due to work concerns (payment is not an issue):)

You are part of the jury pool until the judge releases you. The longest would be 2 weeks.

Is it fair to say that you have to remain on standby to attend the court as part of the jury pool resulting in days that you will get notified that you are not required to attend.

Is it the lack of cases requiring a jury that result in situations like that ??
