Burnt (ie, overfertilized) grass in garden from where dog pees

I have a 14 month old labrador who has burnt patches of grass in our back garden.

Until the winter it wasn't a problem - but it's been quite dry since January. I keep thinking, when it rains it'll be alright. But it's not raining...

Anyway, is there anything I can do for the grass?

Having him pee in just one spot is out, he balks at that idea since he is defending his garden against the dogs next door. (In fact all the burnt patches are around the edge of the garden) Furthermore, when I take him out at 7am in my pjs going anywhere but straight out back is out of the question.
