Hello all, Has anyone any ideas on how to promote and sell a new book. My buddy has written a book of his travels and has got it bound and printed in book form so how does he get it out there? He has it in local shops but how does he get those who may be interested in it to hear about and ultimately buy it? Thanks for any ideas

iirc he can sell it via amazon , at the end of the day he is going to have to send a load of freebies out to any on that may review it , or sell it for him , but if he has gone to a vainity publisher it wont be worth their while stocking it

Perhaps get it reviewed in Backpacker magazine and other similar mags where it would be of interest and/or offer it as a prize to these mags.

He could approach a newspaper travel section / travel mag editor who could serialise it.

He's going to have to do a load of work on publicity. Get onto local and national papers, radio stations, Facebook, Twitter and anything else that will get people aware of his book.

If it's in local shops, see can he persuade them to make a stand to display his book, or some sort of banner advertising it.

Try to get it into the bigger bookshops. Also Amazon and Bookdepository. And keep doing publicity.
