About 2-3 years ago we planted some trees in the back. Very windy extremely exposed western sea site. Three silver birch (Betula jacquemontii) about ten feet high. They are around twelve feet high now. The leaves are just beginning to peep out on the lower extremeties but nothing in the upper branches.Should I cut them back and if so when?
We also planted a Crataegus Pauls scarlet tree and it appears to be dead with no growth at all.
Received a present of a mountain ash and left it in a compost bag for about a year, well battered about. Bought two more and planted out all three. The two bought ones are about ten feet tall and have very few leaves coming at all. The battered one is about four feet tall and is positively bursting out with leaves. same question as above.
The were all fed fish blood and bone about two weeks ago.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :(
