Am I Adding 2 + 2 And Getting Five?

Question: Am I Adding 2 + 2 And Getting Five?

Maybe its my twisted mind but I beginning to see things that might not real real.

A couple of weeks ago there was this news story all over the media: "Richard Dawkins planning to have Pope Benedict arrested"
...Now in the last few days we have a story about a nameless, non-descript British government memo insulting the pope
Now today we have "Pope's visit to UK under threat over 'joke' memo" and "Pope 'could cancel UK visit' over 'offensive' Foreign Office memo"

Am I seeing two news mentioned incidents and seeing someone in British government department craftily coming up for a way for the pope to save face, have a way "out" of visiting England?

    * Could someone have said, "Well its better that we come up with a smaller debacle/reason for the pope to cancel his visit that have a bigger fiasco blow up in our faces later when he arrives on our shores!"

    * Is someone trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the British public, someone trying to avoid a possible massive crises (remember: election time!!! - you'd be amazed at what can effect an election!)

    * Am I seeing things that of course wouldn't happen or are not happening! In other words "Am I Adding 2 + 2 And Getting Five?"

Note: There already is a thread somewhere around on the forum about Dalkings and co, his possible publicity stunt and people's feeling about it.

You could be right, you probably are.
The suspicious side of me says that something else though might crop up and stall/end the current visit of this pope till Dalkings is made to go away quietly. :pac:
(I wish them luck with that desire alone! LOL)

it does if you add 2.49 + 2.49 = 4.98 and display it using a spreadsheet that rounds to the nearest whole number. :pac:

The same thought crossed my mind. How did this 'joke' make its way into the media, anyway?

......um..........thanks? Yeah I was about to recommend my 14 year old brother read 1984 but then he's so full of that teenage "I hate the world for no apparent reason" angst I don't really want to fuel it! Or he could go the other way and listen to bleedin' Radiohead....(heheheheheeee!).

But yeah, pope, condoms, 5, conspiracies. Madness.

What I find ironic is that it said in this morning's metro that the Vatican didn't believe the action taken on the employee was good enough......

You see the thing is, that 2+2 IS equal to 5*.

*For a given value of 2

Either he comes and gets arrested, or he doesn't come. Either way it's a win for humanity and the law. The only lose is if he comes and isn't arrested, but I don't see both of those those happening together.

As for the 2+2=5.....I think you are seeing things. Just because the party's all offically "welcome" the Pope, it doesn't mean anyone in the government or civil service actually wants him there. Although in Ireland people seem unable to stop being raped by the Church, in Britain they're thankfully a little less enslaved to the notion that the Pope is in some way deserving of respect. Obviously the people in the office think he's an ass, which tells me they're normal people.
