So, just throwing this one out there. when are you at your happiest what time of the year/ what place is it etc that you find yourself saying "**** I am happy here.

for me it is late at night in winter, with the rain beating off the window, a few tubes in the fridge and a blazing fire going - along with some good music.

    so what is yours.

Christmas with the family is amazing. blazing fire, helping with the christmas dinner, mulled wine, poker games, cocktail parties, general banter and long cold walks up mountains. Love it!

This may seem weird but i love the hangover you get on Christmas morning. Lying in bed watching a movie with snow outside and your head pounding. Bliss.

i love being i public spaces that are unusually quiet such as a theatre after the play has finished sitting on the stage and just lying out letting my thoughts drift, or a beach, enjoying the silence after the mayhem.

    Old head, Westport.
Its best in the evening time when everybody has left and theres a bit of a chill in the air.
Nothing beats sitting down on the rocks with a few cold ones, looking out over the atlantic, preferably while smoking a big fat one.

Oh, and you have to have the christy moore in the background.

Summer. Sun is out and warm, Bolton Square, sitting down on the steeps of the town hall (between the two lion statues) with an ice cream in my hand.

Precious memories I long to return to...

Lying in a hammock on the beach of an island off the south east of Thailand.

A beer in one hand, a J in the other, the sea in front of me and no responsibilities.
Nothing to do or worry about except chatting up people in the bars, thinking about when I'm going for my next SCUBA dive, relaxing and watching the girls in bikinis walk the beach.

    Perfect.

I know a little hazel wood up in the mountains, far away from anywhere. Just last weekend I sat there in a little clearing, bluebells and primroses in bloom. Heard a Cuckoo in the distance and saw a little fox. My dog sits quietly beside me and i listen to the gentle burble of the stream while the spring sun warmed my face.

Lying in a double kayak in a little sheltered cave along the coast of Bol a small town on Brac island in Croatia. Just me and the gf and noone else around for a good 20 minute canoe trip. (There's a pic right there. vvvv) Followed by a secluded beach all to ourselves. Greatest day ever.

Running along the seafront in Clontarf at night. Looking over to the lights of Howth and the Dublin mountains in the distance.

    Never get tired of it.

I never get tired of walking around London whenever I go there. Normally about once or twice a year. Walking along the River Thames river bank is fantastic.

On the rare occasions I visit an old school friend of mine, we spend the first part of the evening in his front room with his wife and kids, eating finger food, drinking wine, talking about the economy, ya know doing the whole grown up thing.
Then when it gets late his thoughtful missus puts the kids to bed, says good night to us and gives us a sly wink going out the door saying not to stay up too late! Then with the reactions of ninjas, we break out the PS3 and have fired up a game of Pro Evo Soccer in under 20 seconds!
Im transported back to a time when we played games alot more often, before work, women and life in general got in the way! Good times.

I like to go visit my grandad in the house where I spent the majority of my childhood years. I always feel so safe and relaxed there. It's the kind of place you could go with any problem and it just wouldn't feel so heavy anymore.

There is another place I go. It's a memory garden and at night time it is always lit with flickering candles and garden lights. It's really pretty there and a good place to go to if you feel people who are no longer with you are just that bit too far away.

A good, long drive by yourself with a mix cd of your favourite songs is nice as well.
